Veterans Growing America recognized with the 2024 Business Partnership Award

by John Reid

On Friday in Manassas at Foxchase Manor, Veterans Growing America CEO Donell Johns, Sr. won the 2024 Prince William County Business Partnership Award. As one of several businesses recognized during the annual Prince William Chamber of Commerce Awards, Veterans Growing America has been a mainstay in the local community. Board of County Supervisors Chair Deshundra Jefferson presented the award and spoke on its importance.

“I would like to congratulate Donnell Jones, Sr., and his team,” said Chair Jefferson during the ceremony. “Veterans Growing America adheres to three principles: passion, purpose, and prosperity. Mr. Johns had a strong vision that he was able to bring to life, and in doing so he has contributed greatly to our community.”

Since its inception in 2019, Veterans Growing America focused on providing veteran entrepreneurs the opportunity to showcase their individual businesses to the public. VGA has hosted pop-up events in numerous places, and in 2022 held its soft launch as a permanent vendor at Stonebridge Town Center, where it remains to this day. It has also hosted comedy shows and been a presence at several events throughout the Prince William County community.

“Being part of the Prince William County small business community has been an enriching journey of collaboration, growth, and shared victories,” said Johns during the ceremony. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Chair Jefferson, Kimco Realty, and the entire community for this honor and reaffirm our pledge to continue fostering an environment where veterans can grow America with the same zeal and dedication they’ve defended it.”
