Jeffrey Overton, Jr. Named Virginia Football Player Of The Year

Gatorade has named Jeffrey Overton Jr., a Freedom High School junior, the 2023-24 Gatorade Virginia Football Player of the Year. The award recognizes Overton for excellence on the field, and in the classroom and community. He is the first Gatorade Virginia Football Player of the Year to be chosen from Freedom High.  Gatorade has been honoring top high school athletes from across the nation for 39 years.

“It is great to see Jeff receive this recognition for his hard work on and off of the field. It is well deserved,” said Thomas Annunziata, director of student activities at Freedom High.

Overton, a first-team all-state running back and defensive back, helped bring the Freedom High Eagles football team an undefeated season this year and the VHSL Class 6 state title for the second year in a row. View the Gatorade Virginia Football Player of the Year press release.
