Ebony Lofton announces candidacy for Mayor of Dumfries

Yesterday, community activist Ebony Lofton announced that she will be officially running to become mayor in the town of Dumfries.

Lofton is currently the President of South Cove Homeowners Association and has been one of the most vocal voices within the Dumfries community, speaking out on a myriad of issues, such as the opposition of the Rose. She is a former Marine Corps spouse, as well as having a background in finance. Currently, she works for a mid-sized bank in the area..

She released the following statement via press release: “As Mayor, Ms. Lofton will demand more transparency and accountability of the Town Council. She will bring about bold and creative ways to incite change that will benefit Dumfries citizens, including our youth and seniors. She is running because the Town of Dumfries deserves a Mayor who is focused on the needs of the citizens, strengthening the police department, funding a park and recreation department, community revitalisation and increased economic development in the Town of Dumfries.”

Election day is Tuesday, November 8, 2022. The citizens of the Town of Dumfries will elect a mayor and three council members.
