Black Couple Releases New “Driving While Black” Safety Guide For People of Color

Now more than ever there is a tremendous need for police reform, especially when it comes to people of color. While politicians debate the issue and law enforcement agencies claim a sort of innocence, Black and Brown people put their lives on the line every time they get into their vehicles to drive, and sometimes even as passengers. Thus a new book, available now, is an extremely valuable tool for assisting people of color to stay safe when encountering law enforcement on streets and roads across the country.

Driving While Black: A Safety Guide was put together recently by a professional Black man – Chris Wilson – who has experienced many situations and encounters with law enforcement while driving. His co-authors are award-winning journalist Carol Ozemhoya and his wife, Alicia. The trio used an analytical approach to present more than 40 rules that will aid Black and Brown drivers in staying out of jail and out of harm’s way when dealing with a traffic stop. The book also includes tips on protecting their civil rights.

The information presented includes research from media sources and studies from renowned universities. Testimonials from victims of unwarranted police scrutiny are includes as well. The text even offers commentary from members of the law enforcement community.

Driving While Black could save lives, as it offers an approach that discourages violence on all fronts.
