President Obama Endorses Michelle Maldonado for House of Delegates

Maldonado Campaign recognized as a critical race by our 44th president

Yesterday Michelle Maldonado received the endorsement of former President Barack Obama in her race to represent the 50th District in the Virginia House of Delegates .

“It’s time to vote and everything we care about is on the ballot in Virginia,” said President Obama.  “From access to health care to bringing our economy back from COVID-19, there’s too much at stake to sit this one out. And it’s important to vote for Democrats up and down the ticket, so we can actually get things done. In a lot of ways, the people who represent you at the state level have more of an impact on your life than elected officials in Washington. I know, because I got my start in government as a member of the state Senate in Illinois. So don’t wait. Let’s keep Virginia moving forward.”

“To have President Obama’s endorsement is an enormous honor,” said Michelle Maldonado.  “As a former Illinois state senator, President Obama understands what’s at stake in this election. He faced the same threats to progress in Springfield as we do in Richmond. That’s why I’m running: to fight for an economy that leaves no Virginian behind, an education that supports every teacher and reaches every child, affordable and accessible healthcare for all Virginians, and to protect a woman’s right to choose.”

“Everything is on the line this November in Virginia and we are excited to join forces with President Obama to highlight amazing candidates like Michelle Maldonado,” said Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Jessica Post. “We will do everything we can to elect candidates like Michelle Maldonado who will fight for their communities and build on the progress that Democrats have already made in Virginia.”
