Woodbridge Fit Body Boot Camp fights human trafficking with special event tomorrow
The average age of a human trafficking victim is 12-year-old. More than 27 million children, including here in Prince William County, are currently in bondage across the globe, with only 1-2% of them ever rescued. Despite recent laws being signed to fight this danger, more needs to be done. On Saturday from 12pm – 3pm in Woodbridge, the Fit Body Boot Camp is doing their part.
In conjunction with A21, an organization dedicated to abolishing injustice, they will host an event titled “Burpees for A21.” In 2017, A21 won the “Mother Teresa’ award for helping people re-enter society after being freed from slavery. They will partner with other organizations to help raise awareness during the event.
It works as follows: for anyone who visits the event at 3089 Golansky Boulevard, they can place a donation in the jar of one of the coaches. For every $5 placed in the jar, that coach will do as many burpees as dollars in the jar. Those who want to participate can do burpees of their own as well. The money will go directly to A21. There will also be Zumba classes, break dancing lessons, and a silent auction from participating businesses. Last year, they raised more than $800, with the goal for this year being $2000.
Also, as an incentive, for anyone who donates $25 or more to a jar, they will get to workout at Fit Body Boot Camp for two weeks. For more information on A21, visit their website.
