Did you know violence against women is a global health concern?

WHO (World Health Organization) states the following key facts.

Key facts

  • Violence against women–particularly intimate partner violence and sexual violence—is a major public health problem and a violation of women’s human rights.
  • Estimates published by WHO show that globally about 1 in 3 (30%) of women worldwide have been subjected to either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime.
  • Most of this violence is intimate partner violence. Worldwide, almost one third (27%) of women aged 15-49 years who have been in a relationship report that their intimate partner have subjected them to some form of physical and/or sexual violenceservices,.
  • Violence can negatively affect women’s physical, mental, sexual, and reproductive health, and may increase the risk of acquiring HIV in some settings.
  • Violence against women is preventable. The health sector has an important role to play in providing comprehensive health care to women subjected to violence, and as an entry point for referring women to other support services, they may need.

About this event

Mandi is an author, speaker and teacher using her jaw-dropping story to help you learn how to become your own hero too!

This interactive, practical workshop will help improve your chances of staying safer. Ages 13 and older are welcome, as well as those of all genders.

– Using the element of surprise and moving quickly to get safe

– Setting boundaries (how to speak a loud, firm NO)

– Active shooter situations

– Best practices for responding to those who are toxic

Participants leave inspired, encouraged, and equipped with an actionable set of tools and lifelong skills with increased self-confidence to realize actual inner and physical strength.
