Virginia NAACP announces upcoming voter events

The following is by the Virginia NAACP

Election season is in full swing, not only for the Oval Office but several state and local elections are in the balance. The Virginia NAACP has several events in the month of September to engage potential voters.

All In! 2024 Voting Rights Symposium

The NAACP Virginia State Conference is proud to present the All In! Voting Rights Symposium, virtually on Monday, September 16th at 7 pm. This vital gathering is dedicated to addressing the critical issues surrounding voting rights and the future of our democracy. As we approach a consequential election, this symposium seeks to highlight the challenges and opportunities facing Black communities, who have been historically marginalized and impacted by voter suppression. Through insightful discussions and expert panelists, we will explore the importance of civic engagement, the dangers posed by initiatives like Project 2025, and the essential role of voting in shaping a just and equitable society. NAACP National Advocacy Day- September 11, 2024

As we prepare for the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference (CBC ALC) from September 11-15, 2024 in Washington, D.C, the NAACP is seeking to connect with zealous advocates to serve as champions to advance our federal policy priorities on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 10am to 5pm. With Project 2025 creating a state of emergency for Black lives, as threats to our democracy and individual freedoms become more imminent, there is an overwhelming need for activism, advocacy, and education to protect and secure the future of Black communities across the country. With the blatant attacks on public health, education, diversity equity and inclusion initiatives (DEI), environmental climate justice, and our economy, the NAACP seeks to execute an Advocacy Day to collectivize fierce advocates to engage lawmakers on cutting-edge issues that are paramount to the survivability of people of color and citizens across the United States. Advocacy Day will serve as the empowerment hub of the Association, where our base connects with lawmakers on key issue areas.

In preparation for National Advocacy Day, they will be hosting an All-Units Webinar on September 5 at 7pm ET to brief members on the federal policy priorities of the NAACP.
