The Stafford NAACP prepares for this weekend’s Juneteenth celebration
Throughout the country, there will be several celebrations to honor the Juneteenth holiday. Recently made into a federal holiday last year, already there have been several momentous occasions, particularly in the local area. One of the biggest celebrations was in Dumfries, where the renaming of Batestown Road had taken place.
This year, there will be even more events this Saturday, but in Stafford, the NAACP will look to not only celebrate but promote advocacy as well. Recently, we spoke with their president Yolanda Rousell, as well as with Nicole Peters and Paulette Tucker, who are helping to organize the event.
