The First Learning Center in Dumfries & the Potomac District set to open on May 1st

The Neville Empowerment Network Inc. has been a strong pillar of support for the Greater Prince William area for several years.  Recently, they have secured space to open “The Joy of Literacy Learning Center” where they plan to provide the following services:

  • Tutoring for grades 3-8; where each child will have an Individualized Action Plan
  • Educational Workshops (Ex. Cursive Writing by age group, Phonics, STEM Workshops)
  • Professional Development Workshops for adults
  • Court-Mandated Co-Parenting Seminars
  • Empowerment Seminars and Retreats!
  • Mindfulness Seminars and Resources
  • And much more!

The Neville Empowerment Network, Inc. wants to make quality educational opportunities that target the “whole child” accessible to all. Therefore, the organization has created scholarship opportunities where members of the community can donate to support a scholarship fund for clients serviced through ACTS and/or support a scholarship fund for general members of the community who request financial assistance to enroll their child in the tutoring program, or any program offering at an adjusted rate as long as funds are available.

The owner of The Neville Empowerment Network, Inc. Ms. Cydny A. Neville, also serves on the Dumfries Town Council, is Chairwoman of the Northern Virginia Regional Commission, and is a public-school teacher.

“There is power in face-to-face small group tutoring, and wrap-around services to complement the traditional education that takes place in our public schools,” said Nevile via press release.  “There is also power in providing resources that empower and uplift the family as a unit.  Providing resources that address the needs of the “whole child” is imperative to providing a quality education overall, and The Joy of Literacy Learning Center provides an indoor and outdoor environment conducive to effectively doing so.

This time we are living in is a crucial time to address the learning gaps and disparities in education brought on by the pandemic, as well as those that existed long previously.”

The community is invited to join us for a Grand Opening Celebration to be held at 2pm, on May 1st.  Information can be found on their event page.
