Prince William County Supervisor Enters Open Race for Virginia’s Seventh Congressional District with Federal and Local Endorsements

WOODBRIDGE, VA – Today, Democrat Margaret Angela Franklin launched her congressional campaign to build on the progress made in her role as supervisor and take her experience working on Capitol Hill to fight for the future of our community. Margaret is a policy expert with nearly a decade of Congressional experience in legislative leadership positions, where she worked to stand up for progressive values. Margaret enters the race with numerous high-profile endorsements, including that of Congresswoman Alma Adams and former Congressman Al Lawson.

Margaret is an experienced public servant who has served as both a local elected official and senior staffer on Capitol Hill. She has served as Woodbridge County Supervisor since 2019, where she has championed the creation of the Child Advocacy Center, which serves the victims of child abuse. Prior to her time as supervisor, Margaret served as legislative director for former Congressman Al Lawson and on the legislative teams of Senator Gillibrand and Congresswoman Alma Adams for over a decade. She received her master’s degree in public policy from Howard University

Margaret Franklin is also endorsed by Neabsco County Supervisor Victor Angry.

Virginia’s Seventh Congressional District is consistently ranked one of the most competitive Congressional Districts in the country. Margaret’s announcement comes on the heels of incumbent Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger’s announcement that she will run for Governor of Virginia rather than seeking reelection.
