Supervisor Margaret Angela Franklin Elected to Leadership Roles for 2021

Supervisor Margaret Angela Franklin announced her election to leadership for 2021. During Tuesday’s Prince William Board of County Supervisor’s organizational meeting, Supervisor Franklin was elected as Chair Pro-Tem. The position of Chair Pro-Tem is utilized in the occurrence that the Chair and Vice Chair are unavailable for official business, primarily board meetings.  

Additionally, the Supervisor was elected as Chair of The Potomac Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC) yesterday during the first meeting of the year. PRTC also known as Omniride is a multi-modal public transportation system comprised of six jurisdictions. These jurisdictions are: Prince William County, Stafford County, Spotsylvania County, Manassas, Manassas Park, and Fredericksburg. The PRTC provides bus and van services, as well as other transportation programs.  

“I am thankful for the support of confidence from my colleagues on both the Board of Supervisors as well as PRTC. With the many challenges that we face, I am looking forward to working closely with all of my colleagues on both boards.” Supervisor Franklin said via press release.

Supervisor Franklin also continues to serve on the following Boards and Commissions:

  • Planning Coordination Advisory Committee for The Northern Virginia Transportation Authority;  
  • The Potomac Rappahannock Transportation Commission; 
  • The Virginia Association of Counties; 
  • The Virginia Railway Express Board; 
  • The Council of Governments Regions Forward Coalition  

Supervisor Margaret Angela Franklin was elected to the Prince William Board of County Supervisors on November 5, 2019. She is among the first African American women to serve on the Prince William Board of Supervisors.
