Supervisor Margaret Angela Franklin Affordable Housing Initiatives Passes First Step into Implementation

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – Supervisor Margaret Angela Franklin’s directives to create an affordable housing program passed the first step Tuesday night when the Board of Supervisors voted to initiate an update to the Housing Chapter of the Comprehensive Plan and to initiate a zoning ordinance and county code amendments to create an Affordable Dwelling Unit Ordinance. Both motions were approved by the Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) and are part of an expanded scope of work to make the update of the Prince William County Comprehensive Plan more holistic and cohesive.

“If we want Prince William to be a place that everyone can live and thrive, we must address the important issue of affordable housing and this board has just taken the first crucial step,” said Franklin.

Housing affordability is a central topic of discussion as the BOCS works to update Prince William County’s Comprehensive Plan.
