Supervisor Allen Endorses Rozia A. Henson, Jr. for Delegate in Special Election

Rozia A. Henson, Jr. announced on Friday morning that he received an endorsement from Tinesha Allen, Griffis-Widewater District Supervisor on the Stafford County Board of Supervisors.

Henson is a community leader and activist who announced his bid for Delegate in the 2nd District on Tuesday following Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy’s resignation. He is one of three Democrats seeking the party’s nomination for the special election on January 5, 2021.

“I endorse Rozia Henson for HD-2 because he is the type of young, visionary, grassroots leader we need in Richmond! I believe his time as a resident of Stafford, Spotsylvania, and Prince William County has given him a unique understanding of the challenges, hope, opportunities, and prospect that HD-2 possesses,” Allen said. “He’s done the work as a grassroots organizer and volunteer. I am confident he will take the same passion, thirst for change and progress that has been his calling card so far in the community with him to Richmond. I know he will bring that same energy, determination, and focus to the entire HD-2 and its citizens.”

Henson responded enthusiastically to receiving the endorsement. He said he is “beyond excited to receive her endorsement and know that she believes in the energy and passion that he can bring while representing HD2.” He added that her endorsement is a testament to their mutual desire for change.

The Democratic Party will be holding a firehouse primary on Sunday, December 13th to choose their nominee. Henson will face off against Pamela Montgomery and Candi King. Currently, Heather Mitchell is the only Republican in the race.
