Statement Regarding the Assault at Congressman Connolly’s District Office

FAIRFAX COUNTY – Fairfax County Democratic Committee Chair Bryan Graham released the following statement following the attack that occurred earlier today at a district office for Congressman Gerry Connolly:

“First and foremost, we express our utmost concern for the staff members who were attacked earlier today at Congressman Connolly’s district office in Fairfax City. The Fairfax County Democratic Committee strongly condemns the violence that has occurred today.”

“As Democrats, we believe in the power of peaceful and respectful discourse to advance our policies and ideas. As Americans, we have a civic duty to uphold our democracy and the rule of law. We affirm our commitment to a safe and inclusive community where all members can be
heard and express themselves freely.”

“With polarization and charged rhetoric in the current climate, it is important that we come together to take a strong stance against violence, regardless of political affiliation. We call upon the Fairfax County Republican Committee and the Republican Party of Virginia to join us in
condemning this act of violence.”
