Shaynuh Sloane’s Debut Novel “Jade Choyce” Exposes Systemic Racism and Sexism in Federal Workplace
In her groundbreaking debut novel Jaded Choyce, author Shaynuh Sloane exposes the systemic racism, sexism, and toxicity festering in many government agencies through the riveting story of Chloe Choyce, a Black single mother whose career dreams are shattered by a hostile work environment. The book cover features an image of a Black woman in professional attire, looking determined and resilient against a backdrop of the U.S. Capitol building.
Raised near the nation’s capital, Sloane drew from her own experiences as a project management and cybersecurity professional in the federal government to craft Chloe’s journey. “I wrote Jaded Choyce to give voice to the countless brilliant Black women whose ambition and mental health have been casualties of workplace toxicity,” said Sloane. “My hope is that Chloe’s story empowers readers to resist conventional narratives, speak up, and fight for their rights.”
Called “raw and unflinching” by critics, Jaded Choyce is igniting much-needed conversations about the barriers and abuses Black women face in professional settings. Sloane’s debut is being hailed as a must-read for its authentic, thought-provoking portrayal of a pervasive yet rarely discussed issue.
With Jaded Choyce, Sloane aims not only to expose injustice but also to provide guidance on how to effectively combat it. The author is dedicated to uplifting voices that have been silenced and advocating for systemic change.
