Sentara to sponsor the PWCCF’s Back-to-School Community Event

The following is a paid advertisement by the Prince William County Community Foundation

(Prince William County, VA) – Prince William County Community Foundation’s (PWCCF) Back-to-School Community Event taking place on August 11th & 12th celebrates the promise of the upcoming school year by connecting families and their students to valuable school resources, activities, and community supports to promote academic success. Through the support of other partnering organizations, the Back-to-School Community Event will feature games, entertainment, free giveaways, food boxes, food trucks, and backpacks stuffed with school supplies.

As we continue to endure a national health emergency, a growing critical need is the connection of children to health and wellness resources. With a desire to support Prince William County children with health-related services, Sentara will be a sponsor for the 2023 Back-to-School Community event.

Through Sentara’s sponsorship, the 2023 event will include a vaccination clinic, including dental screenings and cleanings, for school-aged children. The Foundation’s mission is to ensure children are prepared to return to school with the necessary vaccines, oral health, and school supplies needed to have a successful school year. The Back-to-School Community event will take place over a two-day period this year. The Vaccination Clinic will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, from 8am-5pm. The Community Day will take place on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 10am-3pm.

The 2022 Back-to-School Community Event drew more than 2,500 community members with over 40 sponsors, and we aspire for this year’s event to be bigger and better. In 2022, the event distributed 1,000 backpacks, over 400 food boxes, and countless resources from community partners to families. Lunch was also provided in-kind to all families in attendance.

Thanks to partners such as Sentara, this event is free and open to children/parents in Prince William County. Sentara and the Prince William County Community Foundation look forward to celebrating the 2023-24 school year with Prince William County families on August 11 & 12, 2023. If you would like more information on this year’s event or join as a partner/sponsor, please contact Dr. Vanessa Gattis at president@pwccfoundation.org
