Rod Hall Enters Race for House District 31
PUBLIC POLICY ADVISOR; FORMER OBAMA APPOINTEE; CHAIRMAN OF VIRGINIA
AVIATION BOARD, & PASSENGER RAIL AUTHORITY MEMBER SEEKS TO SUCCEED
DELEGATE ELIZABETH GUZMAN
Rod Hall, a transportation policy advisor and community leader, formally announced his candidacy for House District 31 in the Virginia House of Delegates.
“After prayerful deliberation and encouragement received from members of my family, friends, community and democratic leaders from across the region, I am excited today to announce I am running for the Virginia House of Delegates to represent this diverse and robust district,” said Hall via press release earlier this morning.
“I’m running because the Commonwealth is at a unique intersection of both a public health crisis and economic downturn that has impacted every segment of our society. Virginia has reported more than 4500 confirmed deaths due to COVID-19, we’ve lost a quarter of a million jobs, and our kids have been displaced from their schools and
teachers. The implications for the Commonwealth’s most vulnerable populations have been made even more
acute. These challenges will require leaders committed to equitable policy and funding responses to accelerate sustainable recovery.”
“As Delegate, I will be committed to civility and building consensus. I will focus on expanding public health capacity and workforce-reskill talent initiatives; strengthening early childhood education; better leveraging the Virginia Business Ready Sites Program to aid economic development, and fiercely fighting for increased regional transportation investments.”
Hall is a policy advisor in the Washington Office of K&L Gates, LLP. His practice focuses on transportation and infrastructure issues. Prior to joining K&L Gates, he was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve as head of legislative affairs at the Federal Aviation Administration. He is also a former senior congressional staffer. Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the Virginia Aviation Board and sits on the boards of the Virginia Passenger Rail Authority and Stafford Regional Airport Authority. He is also an active youth mentor at the Dale City Boys & Girls Club as well as an advisory board member to Prince William Food Rescue.
Hall becomes the third Democrat to declare his candidacy for the district following Kara Pitek and Idris O’ Connor, who declared their respective candidacies last December. As of press time no Republican has declared their candidacy.
