Rod Hall, Candidate for VA-HD-31, takes Activate Virginia Pledge

Rod Hall, candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates, has taken the Activate Virginia Pledge, announced via press release that he is affirming his commitment to environmental justice and to rejecting Dominion Energy and Appalachian Power money.

Hall explained his reasoning in taking the pledge, saying, “I know firsthand the effects of environmental injustice. I grew up near an oil refinery that contributed to many of my respiratory issues as a child. Additionally, I was a Congressional Staffer working for Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, then Chair of House Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment, during the 2008 Kingston Coal Ash Spill. I was on the ground in the aftermath of this tragedy and have since seen the debilitating health repercussions on the surrounding communities. We have to grow and develop our community with an eye towards cleaner energy sources and equitable environmental policy. It is essential to our future. That is why I have pledged to not accept any money from Dominion Energy or Appalachian Power.”
