Rod Anderson to be the new Head Coach of the Rampage

Although the first season in Major League Football didn’t go the way the Northern Virginia Rampage planned, one of the bright spots throughout was the stellar play of the defense, led by Defensive Coordinator Rod Anderson. Now, he will lead the team next year as he announced via Facebook that he will be the new head coach of the team.

Anderson, Co-Founder of the Virginia Mutiny, one of the longest tenured and most successful Minor League franchises of the last 20 years, has agreed to become the Head Coach, taking over for former Head Coach Jason Rock.Rock, who is a co-owner of the team, has stepped away from the sideline for personal reasons, but will remain a part of a newly organized ownership structure.

Anderson brings a championship pedigree to the Rampage. He will patrol the sideline with former arch-rival Dennis Cornwell, most recently the owner and Head Coach of the Northern Neck Rivermen.

“With age comes wisdom”, Anderson said when asked how he and Cornwell will collaborate. “We were both very young, very competitive, and very stubborn; now we just want to compete and win at the highest level”

When asked for comment Cornwell agreed. “I’m here to win. We spent many years competing against each other for championships and now with my offense and his defense and the talent this team is returning; we are going to make waves and build this thing the right way”

The Rampage also return Klarke Castellanos as the Secondaries Coach and Associate Defensive Coordinator.

The Rampage are accepting applications for additional staff and the calendar of events for 2023 will be released this week, The PW Perspective will have more on this breaking news story as it develops.
