Rampage fall in home season opener to Hurricanes

Yesterday at Freedom High School in Woodbridge, the Northern Virginia Rampage was looking to rebound after a preseason loss and get back on track. Unfortunately, some of the same issues that plagued them up north became even more prevalent in front of the home crowd as they lost to the Baltimore Hurricanes 28-0.

It was the first game of the Major League Football Spring Elite Kickoff Classic, featuring all the teams in the league and hosting an NFL referee clinic with officials from all major college conferences. There was a raucous crowd in attendance cheering on the Rampage, and the team came out ready to play. However, on their first offensive play, they turned the ball over and the Hurricanes quickly took advantage, using their immense advantage on the offensive line to score the game’s opening touchdown.

Despite the best attempts of the Rampage defense, who only allowed one full length drive the entire game, the offense couldn’t keep pace as they continued to turn the ball over throughout, including on several fourth down attempts such as a fake punt pass which was unsuccessful at their own 34-yard line. The Hurricanes scored three plays later, and the rout was on.

After the game the team sent out the following tweet which best summarized the day’s events, and their mindset going forward:

The Rampage will play an away game next week against the Franklin County Tigers.
