Although the students have yet to begin classes for the 2020-21 Prince William County school year, the teachers and staff returned to work as they start preparations for a virtual classroom environment.

When the announcement was first made in March for all schools in PWC to go virtual in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a lot of adjustment for educators, students and parents. As the school year begins with 100% virtual learning, the school board is doing what they can to support those who are on the educational front lines. Today a video was shown on YouTube by outgoing Superintendent Steven Walts, who last week announced that he would be retiring from his position in June 2021.

The Prince William Education Association showed their support for the educators as well. PWEA President Maggie Hansford released the following statement: “Prince William teachers and staff are excited to be back to work, preparing to help students learn. No matter if we are teaching virtually or in-person, we love our students and are committed to bringing them the world class education they deserve.”
