PW Perspective endorses Candi King for Second District Delegate

Today, the PW Perspective, Virginia’s Anti-Racist Voice, proudly endorses Delegate Candi King as she runs for re-election in the Second District House of Delegates in the June 8th Primary Elections.

Since winning the special election to win the seat vacated by gubernatorial candidate Jennifer Carroll Foy, King has already been on the forefront of several legislative victories. A staunch advocate for education, King has supported several bills during the General Assembly. The most significant one was HB 2316, which requires the Board of Education to amend its regulations to ensure that each education preparation program graduate in a K-12 general education endorsement area demonstrates proficiency in understanding the role of general education teachers on the individualized education program (IEP) team. Also, she was instrumental in passing a budget that would give raises to teachers, and understands the needs of special education students.

In addition, she has been involved in passing legislation such has paid sick leave, voted for higher wages, and helped families as well as small businesses recover during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her expertise as a small business owner as well as community leader will benefit the district greatly going forward. We believe that King will continue to champion causes for the underserved Black and Brown communities as Delegate.
