Prince William Republican Committee Elects Tim Parrish As New Chairman

Woodbridge, VA – On Saturday, June 27, Prince William County Republican voters elected Woodbridge Marine veteran Tim Parrish as its new chairman in a drive-by “Unassembled Convention” election. Parrish takes over a two-year term as chair, after Bill Card has decided not to seek re-election.

Parrish won a three-way race with 61% of the weighted vote and 66% of the raw vote over Carol Czarkowski, of Gainesville, and long-time Party activist William Johnston, of Dale City. The election was originally scheduled to take place on March 28 at the Committee’s biennial convention, however, it was postponed and altered to an outdoor drive-by event, due COVID-19. With this election, Parrish, who is African American, becomes the first person of color to Chair Prince William’s GOP Committee.

I am delighted with both the turnout for Prince William County’s first ‘Unassembled Convention’ and the result,” said Card. “Tim Parrish, a fellow Marine veteran, won the three-way contest with 61.44% of the weighted vote, winning six of the seven magisterial districts. He conducted a positive and classy campaign that made us all proud. I was happy to see that even on a hot day, and under the unconstitutional restrictions of our Governor, over 78% of those who registered way back in March showed up to cast their vote. I am grateful to the volunteers who manned the polls, as well as Carol Czarkowski and William Johnston who put themselves forward in this contest.”

Card continued, “I know that Tim has both the energy and political savvy to reach new voters and get Prince William Republicans to come out and support our candidates in our upcoming elections. I’m glad he will be at the helm for the all-important state elections next year to take back the House of Delegates and return sanity and dignity to the Governor’s mansion, Lieutenant Governor’s office, and the Attorney General position.”

I’m extremely honored to be entrusted with this important position of service by the Prince William County Republican Party,” said Parrish. “I thank Mrs. Czarkowski and Mr. Johnston for their participation in this contest and I look forward to working with them to grow our Party. We have a lot of work to do – we have lost a lot of elections and many voters in this County aren’t sure what we stand for. I welcome any Prince William resident to join our meetings or contact us – we are a Big Tent Party and we look forward to engaging neighbors and fellow Prince William residents about our values of good governance, job growth, strong public safety, low taxes, and individual liberty.”

Chairman Parrish lives in Woodbridge and operates a security policy consulting business, but he originally grew up in the suburbs of Orlando, Florida. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps. During his eight years of active duty service, Tim served in an array of global and domestic assignments, including with the Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, and as a part of the enlisted staff at The Basic School on Quantico. Tim was stationed in Virginia in 2013 and was honorably discharged from the Marines in June of 2019. He first got involved with local politics by volunteering on the campaign of D.J. Jordan for House of Delegates last year.
