Prince William County Labor Caucus to host Day of Action

The Prince William County Labor Caucus is hosting a Day of Action in support in moving labor rights forward in Prince William County with HB 582.  Introduced by Delegate Elizabeth Guzman (HD-31), HB 582 “Permits counties, cities, and towns to adopt local ordinances authorizing them to (i) recognize any labor union or other employee association as a bargaining agent of any public officers or employees, except for Constitutional officers and their employees, and including public school employees and (ii) collectively bargain or enter into any collective bargaining contract with any such union or association or its agents with respect to any matter relating to them or their employment.”

The Day of Action will be held on May 4th at the McCourt Building (#1 County Complex Court, Woodbridge) at 6:00 pm. Fire fighters, police, county employees, trade unions, and educators, community members, and elected officials are encouraged to join in asking the Prince William Board of County Supervisors to champion worker’s rights and create a pathway for collective bargaining for county employees and first responders with establishing a work group with labor at the table.
