Neabsco District, School Board Candidate, Padreus Pratter is Top Fundraiser

Prince William County, VA — Padreus Pratter, who in December announced his candidacy for Prince William County School (PWCS) board in the Neabsco District, was ranked top fundraiser among candidates that have opened committees to raise money for this year’s Prince William County School Board, Neabsco District race. The school board election will be held on November 7, 2023.

According to campaign finance reports released today by the Virginia State Board of Elections, Mr. Pratter raised $7,851.01 between July 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022 (most recent reporting period). In total, Mr. Pratter has raised nearly $20,000 since opening his committee, Friends of Padreus Pratter, in early 2022.

“When I made the decision to run for school board, I knew I needed to raise enough funds so that I could take my message to every voter in my district. I’m proud that my campaign continues to raise funds in a grassroots way. We had over 150 donors, many for the first time.” Pratter said. According to PWCS Educator and Parent Victor Garcia, “Mr. Pratter’s character, message, and responsiveness transcend your typical school board candidate, so I was happy to support him. As a community, we must pull together to propel his grassroots approach to connect with voters in the district.”

In addition to being the top fundraiser among the candidates in his race, Friends of Padreus Pratter was the second-highest fundraising committee among campaign committees for school board races in Prince William County, Virginia during the latest report period and ranked sixth in total cash on hand for local school board races across the Commonwealth.

A lifelong civil servant with a deep understanding of education policy, Mr. Pratter has spent over a decade serving in the US Department of Education across several administrations and brings to the race a profound knowledge of what it takes to protect and support public school education at the local level. He is a member of the Prince William County Human Rights Commission, Woodbridge (VA) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc, Norfolk State University Greater Northern Virginia Spartan Foundation, and a graduate of the 2022 Leadership Prince William Emerging Leaders Program.

Pratter has earned early endorsements from several elected officials and community leaders including the Reverend Cozy Bailey; Delegate Candi King (VA-2); Dumfries Vice Mayor Monae Nickerson; Neabsco District Supervisor Victor Angry; Alexandria, VA School Board Member Chris Harris; Newport News, VA School Board Member Douglas Brown; long-time Prince William County resident and PWCS Educator Gwen Porter Washington; and several other PWCS educators and students.

Padreus Pratter lives in Woodbridge with his wife and their two young children. Their daughter is a kindergartener in PWCS. Pratter comes from a long lineage of educators. His mother was a special education classroom teacher for over 30 years.
