Justice for Mustafa Aljazairi protest to take place in Manassas
by John Reid
On April 5, 2023, 34-year-old Mustafa Aljazairi was driving on Route 234 in Dumfries with his girlfriend Dorothy Fontain and her 5-year-old daughter Empress Fontain. They were on their way to deliver flowers to her mother’s memorial when, according to the police report’s inspection, the brake calipers on the Chrysler 300 he was driving stopped working. Suddenly, the vehicle was hit directly by a Chevrolet Suburban on the intersection of Dumfries Road and Fortuna Center Plaza. The insurance company’s report showed that his vehicle was t-boned by the Suburban. Although the woman who was driving the Suburban was injured, Dorothy and Empress died in the accident.
After the accident, Mustafa was flown to a nearby hospital. On April 7th, Prince William County Police arrested Mustafa, who lives in Stafford, on two counts of manslaughter and one count of malicious wounding once he was released from the hospital. He has been at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center since.
During his imprisonment, there have been stories of him experiencing abuse, denial of medical treatment, and his requests by his family for a release of video evidence stating there was no argument between him and his girlfriend at the time of the accident. On Thursday and Friday from 8am – 5pm in Manassas, supporters of Mustafa will gather to protest for him to be set free based on alleged falsified reports by investigators, according to videos provided to the PW Perspective by his family. Back on January 31, CCCAN Organizer Olivia Bryant-Bailey wrote a letter requesting assistance from the Prince William NAACP on this case and other human rights abuses taking place in the ADC.
