(Woodbridge, VA) – The Beta Alpha Omega Chapter of Iota Phi Theta in partnership with the Northern VA I.O.T.A.S. Foundation are proud to announce the upcoming “Meet the Congressional Candidate Town Hall Forum,” on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the A.J. Ferlazzo Building. The aim of this program is bringing together the community and Congressional candidates running for office in Virginia that represent District 10 (Prince William County, Manassas, and Manassas Park districts). The event is scheduled before the pivotal November elections, this candidate forum will emphasize the importance of informed voting and civic engagement.

In today’s political landscape, it’s crucial for voters to have a direct line of communication with those seeking to represent them. Our “Meet the Candidates Forum” offers a unique opportunity for constituents to engage with potential decision-makers, understand their platforms, and evaluate their suitability for an office. By fostering dialogue and transparency, this forum empowers voters to make informed decisions that align with their values and priorities.

“Our organization was founded on the principle of citizenship! We are making sure that our community’s voice matters, and it’s essential to ensure that our elected representatives truly reflect our interests,” said Dr. Harold Cooper, co-organizer of the event. “By meeting the candidates face-to-face, voters can assess their commitments, policies, and plans for our district, state, and country.”

The primary goals of the forum include:

1. Informative Dialogue: Facilitating meaningful discussions between candidates and community members to address pressing issues and concerns.

2. Empowering Voters: Equipping voters with the knowledge and resources needed to make informed decisions at the ballot box.

3. Building Civic Engagement: Encouraging active participation in the democratic process and fostering a sense of community responsibility.

This event is not only newsworthy but also instrumental in shaping the future of the communities in Northern Virginia. The “Meet the Congressional Candidates Forum” highlights the importance of civic engagement and the role each individual plays in shaping the political landscape.

We invite all members of the community to join us for this insightful and impactful event. Together, let’s ensure that our voices are heard, and our votes count.
