Idris O’Connor Speaks on the expansion of Dar Al Noor
The debate over the Dar Al Noor mosque expansion proposal at Hoadly Road is steadily growing as it comes to a decision next Tuesday at the Board of Supervisors meeting. Earlier this week, a phone bank session was held by Coles District Supervisor Yesli Vega, with the majority of the calls that were taken that evening were opposed to the expansion. In response, the community is speaking out to support the proposal, citing its history of being more than a house of worship, but also providing much needed services to families in need. One of those voices belongs to Idris O’Connor, Democratic Candidate for the 31st District House of Delegates. He released the following statement via press release:
“I urge the Prince William County Board of Supervisors to approve the expansion of the Dar Al Noor Mosque. The Mosque went through the same regulatory process as any other religious entity and deserves the same treatment as other religious institutions receive when they expand their buildings. Dar Al Noor is an amazing member of our community. They offer food distributions bi-weekly to residents in need and community events for the County. This expansion will help Dar Al Noor continue to serve our community. I ask residents to come speak virtually at the Prince William County Board of Supervisors meeting in support of the expansion.”
The Board of Supervisors are meeting on Tuesday February 2, 2021 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm. Those who would like to speak at the meeting can sign up at https://survey.alchemer.com/s3/6171583/Feb-2-2021-BOCS.
