Idris O’Connor Announces Bid for Coles District Supervisor
Idris O’Connor officially announced his candidacy for the Prince William Board of County Supervisors for the Coles District.
“As the Chair of the Cooperative Council of Ministries (CCOM), I have worked tirelessly to help and to connect our neighbors in need of meals, emergency short-term housing, and referrals to wrap-around services. Now, I am ready to take what I have learned as a community advocate and apply it towards making Prince William County an inclusive, welcoming place that uplifts all of our residents,” said O’Connor.
“I believe that our local government should support our public schools, invest in mental health services, and expand affordable housing,” said O’Connor in regards to his motivations for running. “I am running for Coles District Supervisor to give every person in Prince William a chance to thrive: to bring good paying jobs to the county so that our residents do not need to commute to Washington D.C or Richmond for work, support our first responders and provide an open ear and mind for the concerns of all residents.”
O’Connor also currently serves as the Vice Chair for the Prince William County Social Services Advisory Board. He previously served as the Director for Families for Affordable Housing.
“During my tenure on the Social Services Advisory Board, I have met individuals and families who were going through tough times—from experiencing homelessness to needing assistance with accessing resources, I have worked hard on their behalf, and I am ready to work to build a brighter future for all Prince William County residents,” said O’Connor.
O’Connor has received the endorsements of Delegate Candi King (D-HD 2), Supervisor Kenny Boddye (D-Occoquan), and Coles District community leader Adam Hamby.
