How to give back on Giving Tuesday

Giving Tuesday is a movement that unleashes the power of kindness around the world. It is built upon shared humanity and radical generosity, defined as “the concept that the suffering of others should be as intolerable to us as our own suffering.” Whether it’s sharing a smile, a meal or actively speaking out against injustice, there are several ways to be a part of Giving Tuesday. On a local level, there are several organizations that one can be a part of and give to their local community, among them is the Prince William County Community Foundation and Settle the Debt.

Prince William County Community Foundation has set a goal of raising $15,000 to help improving the quality of life for the county’s residents. All donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $5,000 until 11:59pm EST today, so every $1 donated will become $2. Visit the site below to make a donation.

Settle the Debt raised nearly $25,000 last year to help school children across the county pay down their lunch debt. While the county has given each child an equal lunch regardless of their ability to pay, there are still several parents who have not been able to pay the lunch bills and risk going into collection. Visit their site and help families today.
