Haymarket to host a Black Lives Matter rally on June 12

Throughout the past few weeks, the Northern Virginia area has become an epicenter of protests for change. Whether it was in Manassas, Dumfries and more recently Montclair, people are letting their voices be heard as the globe is standing up for racial justice after the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Aubrey.

Tomorrow afternoon beginning at 4:00 pm the Haymarket area will be host to a Black Lives Matter rally. The purpose of the march is to increase awareness of social injustice in this nation and answer the question, “What can I do?” This will take place at the Haymarket Walmart located at 6530 Trading Square, Haymarket, VA 20169.

Among the speakers will be:

  • Cozy Bailey, PWC NAACP President
  • Haymarket Chief of Police Kevin Lands
  • Pastor Joshua Wesley of Chapel Springs Church
  • Andrew Lewis Jr.

There will be a voter registration drive. Please note that in order to register you will need your phone number and SSN. Masks/Proper PPE are required to attend the event.

In addition, a march through Haymarket will take place beginning at 5:00 pm. It will begin at the Walmart and continue through Town Park down route 55.
