Governor Youngkin announces funding for organizations to tackle mental health.

by John Reid

On Tuesday, during a mental health forum in Richmond, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin announced that faith-based and community organizations will receive funding to resolve mental health challenges.

The Governor’s Office has approximately $800,000 set aside for these organizations to apply for the grant funding. It will provide training on direct care for people who are undergoing mental health and behavioral issues.

Grant amounts for the training can go as high as $15,000.

“Virginia’s behavioral health crisis is far too big a problem for government to tackle on our own,” said Youngkin during the forum. “We must partner with faith-based organizations of all religions and community organizations to bring healing and hope to our neighbors.”
