Gar-Field High School officially changes mascot to Red Wolves

Several months ago Gar-Field High School Principal Matthew Mathison announced that the school, which has been in the Dale City area since 1953, would change its initial mascot name of Indians due to its offensive nature. Yesterday, based on suggestions from students, administration and alumni, the new mascot name was unveiled as the Red Wolves.

The school released a statement via Facebook: “After completing an input process that involved a selection committee including students, staff, and alumni and a community preference survey, Gar-Field High School is very excited to announce our new mascot: the Red Wolves!”

There will be an official launch party during the summer once the final logo design is complete.
