Free Sneaker Sculpture Workshops!

 FREE and open to Veterans, Servicemembers, military family members, and military caregivers.

Create custom-made sneaker sculptures based on the Jordan 5 using paper, fabric, and other unique materials. Templates and instruction will be provided to participants, who will use their own materials, including photos, packaging, shopping bags, posters, wallpaper, and more! This step-by-step process led by Andy Yoder, adjunct professor at George Mason University, allows plenty of room for personal customization and creativity. About the Artist: Andy Yoder’s exhibits include shows at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Queens Museum of Art, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. His work has been featured in The New York TimesThe Washington Post, and PBS NewsHour among others. He teaches sculpture at George Mason University, and several years ago worked with Veterans to create a 25-ft tall hanging artwork at the Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria using handmade paper.
