Federal, State & County Leaders Discuss “Future of Transit” during June 17 Town Hall

“Future of Transit” Town Hall: A Comprehensive Look at Mobility in Prince William County, June 17 Federal, State & Local Leaders To Discuss Bus, Rail & Transit Alternatives During Virtual Event

Prince William County Supervisors Kenny Boddye (Occoquan District) and Victor Angry (Neabsco District) will co-host “The Future of Transit,” a virtual town hall on June 17, from 6:30 to 8 pm. The two districts share transportation corridors, including the Potomac Mills area, which is being studied as a possible location for Metro. 

Panelists will include US Congressman Gerry Connolly, Virginia Senator Scott Surovell, DRPT Chief of Public Transportation Jennifer DeBruhl, OmniRide Executive Director Bob Schneider, and PWC Department of Transportation Director Rick Canizales. Taking an “all of above” approach to transit, the panel will discuss:

  • The Department of Rail & Public Transportation (DRPT) “Springfield to Quantico Enhanced Public Transportation Feasibility Study,” which includes a fresh look at bringing Metro to Woodbridge
  • Considerations for Bus Rapid Transit in Neabsco and Occoquan Districts
  • The proposed Federal transportation package, and what it could mean for Prince William
  • Maximizing the potential of the County’s OmniRide transit service
