Event: My Brother’s Keeper Mental Health and Accountability

Within a culture that too often regards men as “weak” for expressing themselves emotionally or articulating their struggle with anxiety and depression, Black men face an even greater challenge when it comes to participating in open and honest conversations surrounding mental health. Thankfully, the stigmas surrounding mental health in the Black community are slowly being chipped away at thanks to the courage of organizations such as My Natural Me, who are willing to tackle the numerous issues surrounding toxic masculinity.

On February 28th, Mark Wiggins, JJ McQueen, Dr. Oliver T. Reid, Deon Brown, and Nelson Richardson, will be hosting a panel on this very topic at their virtual event “My Brother’s Keeper – Mental Health and Accountability”, as they plan to discuss the following during their panel discussion:

✨What ways do men show they are depressed and how can their partners support them?

✨How can men support one another positively that doesn’t encourage toxic behavior?

✨What can we do as a community to support black men and mental health?
