Employing the Arts to Support Communities in Need

This is the mission of the newly formed Virginia nonprofit, Art of Life Charities. Art Of Life Charities (AOLC) supports other nonprofits and organizations who are doing good in the world by financially aiding them in their missions. Each year, at least one beneficiary is selected to have money raised for them, through an art-eccentric event.

The AOLC is important to each one of its members and volunteers. Karen Propheter, Events Committee Chair, states, “Being a volunteer for Art of Life Charities allows me to do something for someone else with no agenda or expectations. I have always felt blessed, loved, grateful, and if my actions make someone else feel that way, I can’t think of anything better. “

Kelly Haneklau, the President shares, “The Art of Life Charities’ mission takes two things that are close to my heart – art and helping people – and creates a broader platform by welcoming the community to come together for the good of all, while providing an educational awareness of people in need and a tangible way to help them.

Art of Life Charities will host its first event at Madison at the Mill, Saturday, September 17, 2022. They have selected Therapeutic Adventures to be the first annual beneficiary. Therapeutic Adventures is a Virginia-based, nonprofit organization that helps people of all ages who have disabilities and complex medical needs (including our military veterans and cancer survivors) enjoy life through outdoor activities like skiing, fly-fishing, kayaking and cycling, just to name a few. In selecting Therapeutic Adventures, Art of Life Charities will bring awareness of the specialized needs that people with disabilities have, the sacrifices our veterans have made for us, as well as raise donations to purchase equipment and enable adventures for TA program recipients.
