Dumfries Councilwoman Cyndy Neville elected among NVRC officers for fiscal year 2022

Northern Virginia Regional Commission Elects Officers

Yesterday  the Northern Virginia Regional Commission elected officers for Fiscal Year 2022 which begins on July 1.

The officers elected are as follows:

Chair – Honorable Cydny Neville – Town of Dumfries

Vice Chair – Honorable David Meyer – City of Fairfax

Treasurer – Honorable Kathy Smith – Fairfax County

Chair Neville released the following statement upon her election: “I have been proud to represent the Town of Dumfries on the Northern Virginia Regional Commission (NVRC) since 2018; and am ecstatic that my fellow commissioners representing 13 municipalities in Northern Virginia, have elected me as the first Black woman to chair the NVRC! The dedicated NVRC leadership has done a remarkable job exceeding our planning district’s purpose of promoting the orderly and efficient development of the physical, social, and economic elements of the district by planning, encouraging, and assisting governmental subdivisions to plan for the future. As chairwoman, I look forward to continuing our standard of excellence, as we collectively lead our region into the future!”

The Northern Virginia Regional Commission is a consortium of thirteen localities representing 2.5 million residents. Northern Virginia is the economic engine of the Commonwealth of Virginia generating nearly 40% of State GDP.
