Today, The Collective PAC the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political engagement, representation, and power across all levels of government — congratulates Dr. Lisa D. Cook as she takes her place as the first Black woman to serve on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.

Founders of The Collective PAC, Quentin James and Stefanie Brown James, released the following statement:

“The Collective PAC is proud to congratulate Dr. Lisa D. Cook as the first Black woman to serve on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors since it was established 109 years ago. This is a step forward on the path towards equity in representation on every level of government. Her extensive academic credentials include appointments at Harvard University, Stanford University and Michigan State University. 

In addition, Dr. Cook’s innovative ideas have drawn praise from many prominent economists and led to her serving on President Barack Obama’s Council of Economic Advisors, as a senior advisor at the U.S. Treasury, on the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis and as a member of theBoard of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. Dr. Cook’s monumental confirmation answers the long-awaited call for diversity and reaffirms that race and gender should not be barriers to leadership roles that have consequential impacts on the national economy.”
