Delegate Maldonado announces run for House of Delegates in new 20th District

Earlier today, Delegate Michelle Maldonado (D-50th District) announced her intentions to run for the new 20th House District.

“My family and I are excited to announce that I will run for the new District 20! In the coming future, we will return to where it all began for us when we first moved to Virginia – the City of Manassas!” she released in a statement.

Since winning the seat for the 50th District, the longtime Manassas native has accomplished several of her campaign goals, from broadband increases, to helping small businesses and workers recover from the pandemic. In addition to being the founder of the Technology & Innovation Caucus, she was named “Rookie of the Year” by the Virginia Education Association last month. Recently, she spoke with the PW Perspective about collaborative efforts with public schools and vocational education.

Based on redistricting, the new district will cover the city of Manassas, and portions of Manassas Park and Bristow. Currently, there is litigation awaiting to determine if incumbents will be required to run either this year or in 2023 but for now, Maldonado affirms her commitment to continue working for the 50th District.

The PW Perspective will have more on this story as it develops.
