Delegate King visits Stafford and Dumfries, engages with the community

Yesterday, Delegate Candi King (D-2) continued to reach out to the respective communities of Stafford and Dumfries as the primary campaign season heads into the final weeks. In Stafford, she was part of a virtual conversation on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for women within the county. Her and husband Josh King also met with Delegate Joshua Cole (D-28) at a worship service, who has also been recently endorsed in the PW Perspective.

Afterwards she visited the town of Dumfries, where she was supported by elected officials Senator Scott Surovell, Dumfries Councilwoman Selonia Miles, Virginia House Majority Leader Charniele Herring (D-46), and Prince William County Potomac Supervisor and Vice Chairwoman Andrea Bailey. Among those in support as well were fellow alumni of her alma mater Norfolk State University. We spoke with community leader Reverend Cozy Bailey of the Prince William NAACP and Citizens Advisory Board, and he offered his thoughts on why he supports King:

“I have the utmost respect for the King family and have ever since I’ve known them. I always wanted and hoped that Candi King would run for office, and when she did, it was a continuation of incredible blessings to this area. The people that she represents, from Belmont Bay to the Stafford area, are very fortunate to have someone who is knowledgeable and one who is committed to helping people, and that is the definition of Candi King.”

Early voting continues for the Democratic primary races in the House of Delegates, Governor’s and Lieutenant Governor’s races until June 8.
