Councilwoman Cyndy Neville Creates ‘She Leads!’ to Empower Women

Dumfries Councilwoman Cyndy Neville created the concept ‘She Leads!’ last year with the focus of highlighting leadership among women. Unfortunately the pandemic prevented it from happening. Tomorrow, it will finally come to fruition.

Featuring leaders in several different industry sectors, the two week virtual event will be a series of educational and encouraging messages. The March 13 panel will feature elected officials and community leaders. On March 20, the focus will be on financial savings and credit, with a session on investing.

Below are the speakers for the March 13 event:

Krysta Jones: In 2006, she founded Vote Lead Impact, to educate Black leaders about the political process. Krysta has served as Director of Outreach for two Members of Congress, and currently serves as an aide to the Arlington County Board. Krysta has played a pivotal role in Virginia politics managing several campaigns and serving on the steering committee for the Women’s Summit, which mobilized 1000 attendees to help regain Democratic control of the Virginia General Assembly in 2019.

Mayor Michelle Davis-Younger: Younger was elected to the Manassas City Council in 2019 and last November became the first person of color to become Mayor of Manassas.

Simeaka Melton: Melton is the Founder of The Girls And Women Alliance, Culture Collective Camps and the creator of National Girl Power Day! Mrs. Melton has just over two decades of experience and direct service in domestic violence, trauma informed care and curriculum development. Girls and women wellness, community building, education and culture awareness is at the root of her work.

Louise Lockett Gordon: Lockett Gordon is a public health professional seeking to improve population health through the built environment. She serves as the Director of Bike Walk RVA, a program of Sports Backers that advocates for bikeable, walkable street networks for all ages and abilities. Louise chairs the City of Richmond’s Safe and Healthy Streets Commission, and is an active member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., the Junior League of Richmond, and the League of Women Voters – Virginia.

Honorable Loree Williams: Williams currently serves as Vice Chair of the board for the Governor’s School @ Innovation Park after serving as Chair for the last two years. She has also served on the Joint CIP Committee comprised of both the Prince William County School Board and the Prince William County Board of Supervisors. Recently, she has been appointed to serve on the Racial and Social Justice Commission for Prince William County. She is an advocate for early childhood intervention programs, enhancing the skills of under-performing students with a focus on equity for all Prince William County students and staff.

Honorable Tiffany Boyle: As Commissioner, Tiffany oversees a budget exceeding $2.5 million along with over 40 professionals providing numerous functions such as assessment of taxes, correction of assessments, defending the assessment, as well as discovery.

Honorable Dalia Palchik: Prior to being elected to the Fairfax Board of Supervisors, Supervisor Palchik represented the Providence District as a representative on the Fairfax County School Board. Additionally, Dalia served on the board of the Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce, as Co-Chair of its Women’s Leadership Council, and on the board of the Woodburn Village Condo Association.

Sheyna N. Burt, Esq. The owner of The Law Office of Sheyna Nicole Burt, PLC, since 2013, Sheyna focuses her practice on the representation of community associations, charitable nonprofits, and families located in Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Honorable Jennifer M. Bowles: Vice Mayor Jennifer Bowles was elected to Martinsville City Council on November 4th 2014 for her first term. As a newly elected council member, she was appointed by the council to serve as vice mayor. She is the youngest ever elected to city council and first Black women to serve in a leadership position as Vice mayor. She is currently serving in her second term for Martinsville City Council.
