Last Monthly, Virtual Conversation:  Please join us on Thursday, November 21st t 7:30 p.m. for our final virtual conversation, “Advocating for Our Children:  What Do We Need to Know?”  We will be joined by Melanie Matthews-Calhoun, M.Ed, entrepreneur, instructional coach, author and educational consultant and Yanet Boyd, Supervisor of Family and Community Engagement for Prince William County Schools.  It can be overwhelming to advocate for our students. Where do we even begin to look for help?  Join us for this important conversation as we learn strategies for navigating as well as resources that are available to help us.  Please use the Zoom link at the end of this email to join the conversation.  Please spread the word.

Community Outreach: Conversations in the Community is the sponsor for Bull Run Middle School’s H.O.U.S.E. (Helping Our Unique School Excel) after school club.  We are collecting full-size toiletry items for community members who need them.  Please consider donating bars of soap, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotion, baby lotion, wash cloths, deodorant, combs and brushes).  Please email me to arrange for me to pick the items up.  If you have access to a public, physical location where we can place a donation box, (church, restaurant, real estate office, etc.) please respond to this email to let me know.

Reading with Preschoolers on Friday Mornings at The Culture Cup:  If you are the parent/guardian/caregiver of a preschool aged child (2-5), please join us on Friday mornings at 11:00 a.m. at The Culture Cup (8002 Crescent Park Drive, Gainesville, VA) near Eggspectations and Wild Birds Unlimited for a weekly story time.  Enjoy a cup of delicious coffee (or two) while local authors and other community members read with your little one in this beautiful and welcoming community space.  Friday storytimes will start on Friday, November 10th at 11:00 a.m. and last for 30 minutes.
