Celebrating Women’s History Month: Brittany Thrasher (Thrash and Sassy Hair Salon)
As the owner of Thrash and Sassy Hair Salon in Manassas, Virginia, Brittany Thrasher has become a well-respected member of her local community offering great hair at an affordable price! In celebration of Women’s History Month, we sat down with Brittany to ask her a couple of questions.
Who inspires you?
“Maybe it sounds cliche, and too bad if it does. But my mother is, has, and will always be my inspiration. I’m blessed with two amazing parents, but there’s nothing like a mother’s love. My mother taught me what it means to be a hard worker. Her grind is unreal. I remember for so many years she worked 3+ jobs just to take care of me and my 2 sisters. But no matter how hard she worked, she always showed up for us. Her sacrifice to make sure we were good is priceless. She taught me how to never give up and always stay grounded in my faith. To this day, at 70 years young, she still works just in case we need her. She’s always known just what to say to comfort and encourage us. She’s put nothing or anyone before us, even to her detriment. I love her and will always admire her.”
What message would you share with the women in the next generation to follow?
“I would tell the younger generations to always watch your surroundings. That doesn’t mean obsess over what someone else is doing on social media. Those depictions are NOT always as they seem. If you don’t have a mother or mother figure, find someone who you admire and study them, the good and the bad. Learn from their mistakes and tailor what they’ve done to help you reach whatever your goal is. Never give up, don’t look back and keep moving forward!“
