Medrano-Frias told the PW Perspective, “I am incredibly proud of the work that we did in HD-2 in less than 5 days! Our Democrats showed up in numbers and that is all thanks to the effort of the candidates who campaigned fervently to reach them. Most importantly, this was all made possible thanks to our extraordinary volunteers and community leaders from both Prince William and Stafford counties who came together for this election. Now, let’s come together again and build on what we did here so we can have an amazing turnout in the upcoming special election in January!

King issued the following statement after winning tonight’s Democratic nomination in HD-02:

“I am grateful for and humbled by the confidence placed in me by Democrats in the Second House District, and I will work every day until the Jan. 5 special election to earn the confidence of the community at large. Delegate Jennifer Carroll Foy leaves big shoes to fill, but between my real-world and General Assembly experience, I am ready to hit the ground running on Day One to be an effective advocate as we forge a path of recovery from this pandemic.

On behalf of the PW Perspective, we congratulate Ms. King on her decisive victory tonight and thank her fellow candidates for their dedication to Prince William County, and our Commonwealth.
