Aeshah Sheikh appointed to serve as Chief of Staff for Delegate Maldonado

Prince William County is sending another community activist to Richmond. Last week, Darnell “D.J.” Jordan was appointed to serve as Chief of Staff for new Attorney General Jason Miyares. On Saturday, it was announced that Aeshah Sheikh will serve as Chief of Staff for Delegate Michelle Maldonado (D-50th District). A longtime resident of Manassas, Sheikh has helped to support a myriad of candidates on both the local and state levels. In addition, she has been a leading voice for several causes, from the Dar-Al Noor expansion to speaking out about anti-racist policies. Now, she will serve in the political arena for Maldonado, who won the election last November.

Sheikh released the following statement to the PW Perspective on the appointment. “I am honored that Delegate Elect Michelle Maldonado entrusted me to be her Chief of Staff. This opportunity is tremendously important and exciting for me. Especially because I get to work for the community I call home.”

She continues, “It brings me comfort to know that Delegate Maldonado will bring solutions and positive change to our district. It’s great to work for a delegate who truly cares and listens to her constituency. I look forward to being by her side while she serves our district every day. I look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones while on this journey.”

So what will she be looking forward to as she heads to the state capital? “As the former Acting Chair and Senior Vice Chair for the Prince William County Democrats, I look forward to bringing my experience with me to Richmond. As a longtime community activist and advocate, it’s great because local government and policy are what I’m most passionate about. One of the hopes I have being in Richmond is being able to start talking to everyone’s point of view. During a time of such divide, I hope to continue my work as I have with Prince William County together in bridging the gap.”

Congratulations to Aeshah Sheikh on her new appointment.
