Dumfries celebrates its 47th annual Christmas Parade
Yesterday the Town of Dumfries celebrated its 47th annual Christmas Parade. Starting at the Triangle Plaza, a bevy of local organizations, businesses, and schools joined in the festivities.
Under a surprisingly warm December day, the parade route was crowded with spectators as they saw a cascade of dancers, musicians and even a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. The Grand Marshall for the event was Dumfries Elementary School principal Starr Gransby, and many local elected officials were on hand to commemorate the event.
The unquestioned highlight of the parade was the presence of several marching bands who played holiday themed music. Bowie State University, George Mason University, Woodbridge High School, Eastern High School from Washington DC and Freedom High School put on memorable performances, including a classic “Battle of the Bands” that took place after the proceedings.
The parade was covered by HP Virtual Media Productions and is slated to appear on the town of Dumfries’ YouTube page and local stations later in the week.
