Workshop aimed at helping to curb debt and overspending

Woodbridge, Va — The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Prince William County Chapter, Inc. (NCBW-PWCC), announced today that its fifth financial literacy workshop will focus on money management.

Led by financial expert Xavier Epps, this workshop will dive into financial strategies to help participants and their families develop accountability and take the first steps to tackling debt and overspending.

Topics will include personal budgeting, the basics of money, financial safety during and after a crisis, the use and misuse of financial records, long-term economic empowerment, and more. Participants will create a budget during the workshop and participate in other activities, to give them hands-on experience with establishing and maintaining great financial habits.

“These financial literacy workshops have been well-received in the community, particularly as more individuals and families are forced to tighten their belts during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Sheila D. Coleman, President of NCBW-PWCC. “The pandemic has exacerbated the wealth gap between whites and people of color. Although this workshop is open to everyone, free of charge, NCBW-PWCC is working hard to reach those who have experienced the greatest hardships.”
