Still We Rise – Creating Black History

Last week the PW Perspective highlighted how Voices for Virginia’s Children has championed the cause for Racial Truth and Reconciliation. On February 26 the organization’s Racial Truth & Reconciliation Virginia launched a message chain centered around the theme, “Still We Rise,” to shape the Black culture’s narrative of turning obstacles into opportunities and tribulations into triumphs. Maya Angelou’s performance of the piece will jumpstart the poetry chain. Following, other Black poets, motivational speakers, and orators performed their pieces centered around the theme.
